Another Challlenge to Face

Hi, all! Linda here. I'm sitting here with Andrea who is home again this weekend for a visit. She picked a good weekend to come home because I needed the support.

At the beginning of the week I wasn't feeling well, even after the two units of blood I got last Friday. So Jim called Dr. Bahandari and he ordered another CAT scan and and a brain MRI, which I was able to get on Wednesday. Then Dr. Bahandri called us on Thursdy with the results. The tumors have grown a little and there is a new one in my brain. Fortunately it's only three millimeters. Dr. Bhandari got us an appointment with Dr. Summe, a radiation treatment specialist at Christ, on Friday. He said it could be treated with a single, directed beam, rather than a series of ten whole-brain radiation treatments, which is good news. After a few more consultations and measurements, I should get the treatment the week after next. It sounds scary, but everything should come out okay.

Dr. Summe prescribed some medications that have made me feel a little better over the past two days. I was able to go to our neighbors' house for a Final Four party last night and Jim, Andrea and I were actually the last to leave! Too bad North Carolina didn't win. Andrea and I also went out to breakfast and shopping with my friend Sue this morning and I was finally able to find some clothes that fit me.

Please keep praying for me over the next two weeks. I couldn't do it without your support. Love you all, Linda

Linda and Jim
I am soooo glad you are up and at 'em again. Andrea really helps being there like no one else can. It must be some great medication that you took! Get some more of it for later bouts.
You can count on our prayers, rosaries, Masses, and candles for you and Jim and the family.

Is anyone out there looking for a "Challenge"? Let's see who can pray the Rosary every day for Linda.

Love,
Mary Anne & Tim

Linda and Jim

I don't write very often but you are always in my thoughts and prayers. It is nice Andrea gets to come visit you as much as she does. Hope the new medicine keeps working for you.

I wonder if Dr. Summe is my former doctor's husband? Lisa Summe is her name. She just left her practice in Madeira to concentrate on her family. She was the best doc I ever had!

Linda, you continue to be a rock star. Keep the faith and know you are very, very loved. Hugs and prayers.

Linda, Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you had a successful shopping trip :) Thankfully you are in good treatment and they caught the tumor so early. Hugs and prayers all around.

HI Linda,

Glad to hear the new medicine is helping. You are an amazing woman and if prayers give you strength then more prayers it is.

Great picture of you and Andrea at Easter time making goodies! I'm glad she's able to come home as often as she is.

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Mrs. Wimmers!
It' Olivia, Andrea's friend in California.
It's so great to hear the news from your perspective. Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking about you, and I know from a daughter's perspective, working through some medical uncertainties with my mom, how scary this all can be/feel. It's certainly true that support through all the avenues available make a difference. It's apparent, you are wonderfully loved and supported.

Much Love,
Olivia

If God had ears, She'd be going deaf from all the prayers for you. We'll keep 'em coming! It was great to see you lounging outside this week, soaking up the sunshine, chatting with neighbors.

Affectionately, The Meeks

I'm sorry I missed seeing you outside last week. Mike and I were out of town.

I'll call you this week to see if you are up to a quick visit.
